Working with Mencap

Mencap-logo_RGB.png

Recently I have been doing a bit of work with MenCap. Mencap is a fantastic charity that supports and helps improve the lives of people with learning disabilities.

My work was as a volunteer video editor. My job was editing some videos interviews that had been shot by one of the Mencap team. The videos are to raise awareness of a new digital system that assists the support workers throughout the UK. It was a great experience to work with the Mencap team and some more work is planned in the near future.

Huge thanks to Leeanna Nelson who animated the MenCap logos for me as part of the project. Leeanna was my student at Solent Uni a while back and is now a motion graphics designer. How cool is that! Thanks Leeanna.

Some great feedback too from Mencap:

Huge thanks, Steve, for volunteering your time to work with us. Steve has so far produced two short films that we are using within our organisation, to show off the benefits of a new digital programme we rolling out to staff. Steve quickly picked up the brief, produced quality first drafts and edits very quickly and we’re really happy with the results!

It’s a great be able to support such a great organisation by donating some of my time.
