Futsal photography for Southampton Aztecs

Futsal is a bit like 5 a side football but much faster and more intense. I had never seen a futsal match before the Southampton Aztecs asked me to come and do the photography at their recent match.

The biggest difference was that the match is played over two halves of 20 minutes. But…the 20 minutes is only when the ball is in play. There is a timer on the sidelines controlled by the ref. This match started at 3.30pm and finished at 5.30! So you need to be a really fit player. It was super fast too.

For the camera geeks, to capture the action and not get any motion blur, I used a really fast shutter speed at 1/1000. As the match was indoors that means bumping the ISO up and a bit of noise in the images but that is the nature of the thing.

The management team are delighted with the images and are making great use of them on their social media channels.
