The Frog and Frigate in Southampton. “That’s the place where they are up on the tables singing and dancing!“ Someone said that to me a while back and it sure is!

A little bit out of the way on Canute Road is the legendary night time venue. Only open on a Friday and Saturday night between 10pm and 2am it is the place to go if you want to get up on a table and sing your heart out. A right of passage for so many people in Southampton and with a loyal fanbase and a real community and friendly vibe, it is quite an experience.

The singalongs are led by musician and the pub’s owner, Derek Gardener and the mission was to record a live album on the venue’s special anniversary weekend. Both nights were sold out. The place was rammed and a fantastic weekend was had by all. I met people who came from all different parts of the UK. I have been around venues, music and bands for years and never seen anyone get a reaction like that.
