Cosmic Egg Productions is now a SoundStripe Partner. That means great music for all my media production projects. I can also offer you 10% off your first year of annual or monthly plan if you use my coupon code: COSMICSOUNDS

A great film or a great video always has great music don’t you think?

I have been making videos for many years and I am glad to say that in the past couple of years finding good and even great music for my video projects has got a whole lot easier and the quality of music a whole lot better.

Back in the day it was tempting to grab a track from my favourite band and add that to the film. Sure it sounds amazing but it was breaking copyright and other than showing it to friends and family you couldn’t share your film to a wider audience. For larger commercial projects with big budgets of course it is always possible to approach the record company or publishing company to get licensing. But that comes at a heavy cost and sometimes the answer is a flat out no.

Music libraries in the past always sounded more like ‘muzak’. You know, the kind of music you hear in a lift! Those libraries weren’t cheap, had a limited number of tracks and when you found something you liked you ended up using it over and over again.

Roll forward to the present and the new kids on the block are a huge blast of fresh air.

Epidemic Sounds is very popular with YouTube video maker gurus like Peter McKinnon. In fact Peter McKinnon endorses Epidemic Sounds. The quality of the music on that platform is brilliant. Can’t fault it. But if you are a freelancer doing commercial projects then the subscription is a hefty £39 a month.

Artlist is another platform that also has great music on a subscription basis. It works out at £13 a month and best of all the licensing includes commercial use.

Which brings me on to SoundStripe. I was on a personal plan with Epidemic Sounds and enjoying the music for my personal projects but as my commercial work picked up the increase to £39 per month was too much for me. Especially when you factor in other subscriptions like Adobe Creative Cloud and camera equipment insurance.

I had seen the adverts for SoundStripe on Facebook and eventually had a look see. I was knocked out to see the pricing was £12 a month and included commercial use. So I signed up. Great music too.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the coupon code!
